Downloader lets you open a web address and download files on supported TV devices. Start with the official Appstore listing. You do not need to change developer settings just to install Downloader from the store.
Install Downloader from the Appstore
- Connect your Fire TV to the internet and open Find or the Appstore search.
- Search for Downloader. Check that the listing is the AFTVnews app, rather than an app with a similar name.
- Select Get or Download. Wait until installation finishes, then choose Open.
- Follow the first-run prompts. Only grant permissions needed for the files you intend to download.
Before downloading an APK
An APK is an Android app package. Fire TV models do not all use the same operating system, so an APK guide may not apply to your device. Check the model and software details under Settings > My Fire TV > About, or the equivalent Device & Software menu.
On a compatible Fire OS device, an installation permission may be needed for Downloader. Follow our separate unknown-apps guide only if your device offers that option. A downloaded file cannot make an incompatible operating system support Android apps.
If Downloader is missing or a download fails
- Check the official app’s supported devices and your store region.
- Install available Fire TV updates, restart and search again.
- Check the web address with the app publisher. A shortened code may point to an expired page.
- Make sure there is enough free storage for both the download and the installed app.
Downloader is a file-download tool. Installing it does not include a television subscription or unlock paid channels. Obtain apps from their publishers and use content you are authorised to watch.
