To record IPTV on a MAG box, the model, firmware, portal and stream must all support recording. A USB port alone does not guarantee that every channel can be recorded.
Prepare to record IPTV on a MAG box
- Confirm that recording is available in your portal and permitted for the content.
- Use a supported storage device with enough free space and suitable write performance.
- Check the device clock before scheduling.
- Confirm whether simultaneous viewing and recording uses more than one account connection.
Make a short test recording
Connect the storage, select a supported channel and use the recording control shown by the portal. Stop after a short test, locate the saved file and play it back with sound. Only schedule a longer programme once that test works.
If recording fails
Check storage access permissions, free space, supported filesystem and the portal’s recording rules. A read-only storage setting prevents writing. Keep the box powered and follow its instructions for standby behaviour during a scheduled recording.
Catch-up is different: it plays a programme retained by the provider. See the MAG catch-up guide if you want to watch an earlier broadcast without a local recording.
